Thousands gather for Mary Stevens Hospice fundraiser full of food, fun, and feathered chaos
Over 2,000 visitors flocked to The Waterfront Dudley in Brierley Hill on Sunday for the annual Mary Stevens Hospice Duck Race,a much-loved community event that’s become a true Black Country tradition.
This year’s event was proudly supported by Prosperity Wealth, Waldron Solicitors, Digbeth Dining Club, Bailey’s Tackle Shop, and the Waterfront team.
Thanks to everyone’s incredible generosity, a fantastic £21,000 was raised for Mary Stevens Hospice,a huge achievement for a very worthy cause.
Food, Music & Frozen Magic
The site came alive with delicious street food, from fish and chips to Caribbean favourites and sweet desserts, plus music, laughter, and family-friendly fun. Street performers dressed as Frozen characters added a magical touch for younger guests.
Dozens of local businesses joined in the fun by sponsoring and decorating giant ducks, making the day extra colourful.
Ducks Go Rogue… But the Fun Floated On
The big moment arrived as rubber ducks launched near the Copthorne Hotel. But in true British fashion, a sudden change in wind direction sent them paddling the wrong way!
Far from spoiling the race, it sparked plenty of laughs and didn’t stop the crowds from enjoying every moment.
Supporting a Hospice Close to Home
Raising £21,000 for Mary Stevens Hospice is a true testament to the power of community and local spirit.
From all of us at the Waterfront: thank you for making this year’s duck race such a memorable success.
